Rep. Ken Borton, from the 105th District, offered the following invocation:

“Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us the privilege and honor of serving the people of our great state of Michigan.

As we continue to navigate this term, please O Lord grant us patience, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with one another.

We may not all agree on everything but the one thing we do agree on is making the state of Michigan an even better place to live for future generations. Let’s move forward with determination to claim God’s promise in Jeremiah 29:11- ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’

We look to You, Father, to lead us. Give us Your wisdom and let hope and love fill our days as we work together to make Michigan an even greater state than it is now.

In Jesus’ name we pray.

Amen.”
